 Introducing PTWin32 |
PTWin32v2 is a
suite of computer software programs designed to work with Microsoft Windows
software. Its purpose is to track and report on, among other things, a variety
of planning, building, zoning, licensing, and code enforcement records kept by
local governments. PTWin32v2 is comprised of three modules, Permits, Licenses, and Code Enforcement. You can license combinations of modules or purchase all three with our PTWin32v2 MAX option. For cost information see our Pricing & Ordering page. Each feature
listed below contains a code that tells you which module(s) include the feature.
For example, a code of: "(PCLM)"
means the feature is part of (P)ermits, (C)ode
Enforcement, (L)icenses, and PTWin32v2 (M)AX. A simple chart comparing features to modules can be found on the Features

Here are some of the
things you can do with PTWin32v2:
PTWin32v2 stores and prints all kinds of
citation and notification information including the parties involved, the location, fees or fines
charged, inspections, conditions, and appeal data. Plus you can store the full
text of the violated code.
PTWin32v2 provides a dozen predefined inspection types with checklists for you
to use or modify, or you can create your own. You can track any number of
Conditions or Corrections and attach graphics to records. Inspections can also
be exported and imported to and from notebook computers that are taken into the
field.
PTWin32v2 comes with an integrated Inspection Scheduler that can manage multiple
inspectors. You can block out specific times and dates as well as print
schedules for one or all inspectors.
With PTWin32v2 you can store graphics as
well as text with your parcel information. You can track all Permits,
Conditions, Violations, or Code Enforcement actions related to a parcel as well
as complete legal description and historic ownership information. And our parsed
addresses and coordinate fields facilitate importing data from another source or
connecting PTWin32v2 to a GIS system.
With PTWin32v2 a parcel can be owned by
many people, and an individual person can own many parcels, all without any
doubled entry into the system. You keep one Owner record and it tracks contact
information, parcels owned, and anything else you might want to add.
Keeping an up to date list of builders, plumbers, electricians, architects, etc,
with all their current license and insurance information is a snap. You can
store multiple addresses and employee contacts and see all permits associated
with a given contractor. Plus you can maintain Contractor Deposit Accounts for
the payment of fees throughout the system, and it includes invoices, statements, and low
balance warnings.
You can track license and fee information
at state and local levels and there is no limit on the number of license types
you may create. You can store addresses and phone numbers for main and local
offices and easily jump to any related Contractor information that might apply.
You can store your particular fee and construction or material valuation
information for fixed, graduated, or hourly fee and receipt types. Then track
and report on it quickly and easily. Fees can be charged as a group or can be
the result of complex calculations that are charged at the click of a mouse.
Receipts can reference multiple fees and multiple accounts.
A modifiable staff time tracking module is also included with PTWin32v2. This
time tracker can tell you how much staff time is spent on work related to a
specific permit, license, or code enforcement record.
With PTWin32v2 you can create lists, which are made up of links to records from
all over the PTWin32v2 system. You decide what goes on a list. It can be
anything you want, from a list of all of the permits in an addition to a list of
things you have to work with tomorrow. It's up to you!
The windows for Permits, Code Enforcement, Licenses, Parcels, Inspections, and
Contractors allow you to attach or store graphics to PTWin32v2 records. You can
operate your TWAIN compatible scanner or digital camera from within PTWin32v2 and scan graphics as
well as multi-page documents. You can also zoom, center, magnify, pan, show full
screen, or apply image enhancement to PTWin32v2 graphics records.
You can print any permit, license, etc in PTWin32v2 and select from a list of
management reports that cover everything from the monthly permit tally to the
final inspection log. You can also substitute your own report for a PTWin32v2
report and you can maintain menus of reports that are attached to Print buttons
throughout the system. Plus PTWin32v2 comes with an upgradeable Report Gallery
containing over 130 report definitions for you to use or change to meet your
needs.
PTWin32v2 comes with two different report writer programs. You can use either of
these programs or any 3rd party report writers that can open SQL
tables. You can modify most of the reports that come with PTWin32v2 to suit your
needs. And one of the report writers doubles as a sophisticated query engine
that allows you to ask complex questions of your data.
Select from a set of 30 business graphs and charts that show your data in pie,
bar, and column formats. The graphs and charts are in color and are
three-dimensional. And they examine all the records in your PTWin32v2 data set.
Modifying the fields that appear on permit, parcel, owner, inspection, fee,
receipt, contractor, license, code enforcement, or time tracking windows is
simple and can be done by you, in-house. This allows you to personalize
PTWin32v2 and track any unique information you may wish without costly outside
assistance. Plus you have control over the field prompts on the main tabs of
most windows.
With PTWin32v2 you have control over what appears in the selections associated
with a combo-box or pull-down fields. If users select values from a list there
is little chance of misspelling. PTWin32v2 comes with over 30 Selection Value
fields defined and you can add your own.
You can create passworded PTWin32v2 user definitions and sculpt a user’s
system rights across more than 10 categories. You can restrict access, allow
view-only rights, or give editing capabilities to individual users across
individual modules.
Identifiers for PTWin32v2 records in
Parcel, Permit, Inspection, Fee, Receipt, Contractor, Code Enforcement,
Licensing, and Time Tracking can be generated automatically. You can use a
modifiable standard format or define a custom format with your own prefixes and
suffixes.
With PTWin32v2 you can seek specific
records in many ways. The Find command allows you to look for a value in a given
field. The Search function allows you to isolate records fitting criteria from
multiple fields. The Browse command displays certain fields from all your
records allowing you to pick from a sorted list. And the Ad Hoc Query Engine
permits the asking of complex on-the-fly questions from many fields across many
data tables.
Use Bookmarks to develop a list of
records you need to jump between. You can bookmark as many records as you like.
Selecting a record from your Bookmark list displays that record in your
PTWin32v2 window with a single click.
Use our built-in messaging system to send
notes to other PTWin32v2 users that reference specific PTWin32v2 records and allow recipients to jump directly to the
associated record. You
can schedule messages to be delivered as future reminders and select recipients
from a list of all defined PTWin32v2 users.
Included with PTWin32v2 is a utility program that
can repair a variety of problems. You can restructure data tables, rebuild index
files, remove wasted space, backup, restore, and verify the integrity of
PTWin32v2 data tables automatically.
Increase the speed of your data access by retiring
old, rarely required records to an archive. Archives can be opened when needed
but don’t slow down users of your active dataset. A thumbnail describing your
archived records can be found on the Parcel window. PTWin32v2 archives allow you
to break your data in to manageable sets.
Activating User Logging in PTWin32v2 will create a
record of system transactions for each PTWin32v2 user. This User Log can be
consulted to determine the activities of specific users on specific Dates and/or
times.
Many PTWin32v2 fields contain buttons
that assist in the entry of a value. Number fields display a keypad and Date
fields allow you to select a value from a calendar. Combo box or pull down
fields display a list of possible values and Search fields allow you locate
related records using many criteria. Password fields allow you to change hidden
values and Memo fields have no specified length so there is no limit to what you
may type into these fields. A number of Borrow functions allow you to populate
many fields at once by copying them from another PTWin32v2 record.
Define conditions which should prevent the creation of a record, or the printing
of a report, permit, or certificate of occupancy. You can check Contractors for
licenses and insurance and prevent the scheduling of inspections based on unpaid
fees or status values you define. And you can automatically calculate expiration
dates.
Compress your PTWin32v2 data into an
industry standard Zip file that can be placed in a safe location. The date of
the backup is incorporated into the file name so old backups are not
overwritten. You can also restore your backup file and make its contents the
active dataset.
No more junk records in your active dataset. By switching from Standard mode to
Learn mode you are presented with a dataset on which you can experiment without
creating records in your active dataset. Use Learn mode to estimate fees before
an application process or as a scrap area to carry out tutorials and other
education functions.
PTWin32v2 comes with a help file containing over
70,000 words spread across over 200 topics, a User Manual with over 200 pages, a
quarterly newsletter, a web site with a library of user tips, a broadcast email
group, and technical support via phone, fax, or email. We can also provide
personalized training, custom report creation, data import services, or
modifications to PTWin32v2 itself.
