Introducing PTWin32 / Technical Information

System Requirements
PTWin32 runs on computers that use Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, 98,95 or NT 4.0 (service pack 3 or higher). Your computer must be at least a Pentium 90 with 16 megabytes of RAM. We recommend a minimum of 133 megahertz with 32 megabytes of RAM. You may run any peer to peer or file server network that is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, 98,95 or NT 4.0 (service pack 3 or higher).

Application Language
PTWin32 is written in Object Pascal using the Delphi development environment. PTWin32 is a compiled program that runs much faster than interpreted programs like those written in Visual Basic, etc. PTWin32 is a 32-bit application. For Information about the 16-bit version of PTWin contact Black Bear Systems, Inc. The source code for PTWin32 is not included with the product.

Data Tables
The database tables in PTWin32 are SQL tables of the Paradox for Windows (PFW) variety. Any software program capable of working with PFW SQL tables can load and manipulate the data stored in your PTWin32 data tables.

Printed Reports
PTWin32 provides the ability to edit every standard report that prints from the system. New reports can be created using the built-in Ad Hoc Report Writer or any compatible SQL reporting software. Should you choose to use Paradox for reporting, we include a full set of those reports as well

There are three types of printed reports that come bundled with PTWin32. First are the Report Builder reports. Most of these reports are attached to the Print buttons of individual PTWin32 windows. This type of report is the most powerful, which means it is also the most complicated.

The second type of report is an SQL report created by the Shazam Ad Hoc Report Writer that is included with PTWin32. These reports print quickly and can be edited easily. The Shazam Ad Hoc Report Writer can be used to create new reports as well.

The third type of report included with PTWin32 are Paradox for Windows (PFW) report files. These reports can be edited through the use of PFW but require loading PFW Runtime to print from PTWin32 so the process is slower. PFW can be used to create new reports as well.

Since the PTWin32 data tables are PFW SQL tables then the creation of any new printed reports can be carried out with any SQL report writer software that can work with PFW SQL tables.
