Introducing PTWin32 |
At
times you will need to gather your PTWin32 data to make copies for backup, data
sharing or manipulation, technical support, etc. When gathering a portion of
your data it is important to remember that databases are contained in a family
of files. Your
PTWin32 data is stored in a directory called, PTWin32\Data. This
directory holds more than 400 files, but most of them refer to one of about 70
databases. Lets
say you need to make a copy of your Contractor information. An
examination of the files in PTWin32\Data reveals that there are at least
12 files with names than begin with Contract, but the filename extensions
to the right of the dot are different. This
is because your data is stored and sorted in a variety of ways depending on the
type of data, and how you need it displayed. If you need to deliver your Contractor
data and you don’t include all of the Contract.* files regardless of
filename extension, the data you send may be inaccessible.
