A Refreshing Alternative
Is your data rotting on the vine?
Automatically updating PTWin32 data from an outside source

Tip #: 4.4.103
Ver(s):PTWin32, V2, V1

Many of our PTWin32 clients have access to data from outside sources. Parcel and owner records from someone like the Tax Assessor, or permit data from legacy systems are examples of outside data sources.

Often these clients ask us to convert data from an outside source and pack their PTWin32 database tables with this information. This gives them a good starting point to build their own dataset.

But some PTWin32 clients would rather keep their data in sync with the outside source. These clients want to periodically update their existing PTWin32 data with new source data. For these clients we create a custom program that converts the data automatically.

This is a complex process that is specific to the format of your source data. If you send us your data and any documentation you might have about its layout we can tell you if an update program is possible and what it will take to create one for you.

You will need to have a field in your source data that uniquely identifies each record and you must ensure that the format of subsequent source tables does not differ from those used to develop your update program.

If you are a PTWin32 client who would like to investigate the possibility of automatically refreshing your data from an outside source on a regular basis give us a call at (360) 379-9750 to discuss your alternatives. We may be able to build you just what you need!
