Captain's Log
The final frontier
Log files that store information about your PTWin32 installation

Tip #: 6.1.149
Ver(s):PTWin32, V2

Why keep a log? Well it is a good way to introduce episodes, but it also creates a record of your experiences for others to consult. Sometimes a log is the best way to discover the source of a problem.

Log files are generally text files that record an event or setting and then save themselves to your hard drive. There are several logs created and maintained by PTWin32. These logs can be quite useful in troubleshooting your PTWin32 installation.

In your \PTWin32 directory you will find a file called Install.log. This text file contains a record of the PTWin32 installation process including the date, time, files copied, files overwritten, programs executed, shortcuts and program groups created, as well as Windows Registry settings and library installations.

In your \PTWin32\Paradox directory you will find a file called Paradox.reg. If you open this file with Notepad you will see that it lists all of the changes made to your Registry as a result of installing Paradox Runtime with PTWin32.

In your \PTWin32\Programs directory you will find a file called PTWinerr.log. This text file keeps a list of errors you have experienced while running PTWin32 including the date, time, user, window, and nature of error. This log also stores the comments entered by PTWin32 users at the time of the error.

Feel free to look at these files but be careful not to change them in any way. They may be imperative to fixing a future problem.
