Introducing PTWin32 |
By now everyone knows that their computer
processes data loaded into memory from a storage device like a hard drive. When
you buy a computer one of the configuration items you must specify is the amount
of memory you want. The more memory you have, the more
efficiently your computer will run, but no matter how much memory you put in
your computer it will always represent a finite amount with a maximum capacity. Most everything you run on your computer is
loaded into memory for processing. The combined requirements of your programs
are subtracted from the available pool of memory in your computer. If you load
enough programs and files simultaneously you will use up all of your memory. These days most computers have more than
enough memory to run PTWin32. Even less expensive computers come with up to one
gigabyte (1 billion bytes) of memory. But if you are curious as to how much
memory the PTWin32 program uses, then read on… All of the following
numbers are approximations. The configuration of your computer may raise or
lower these numbers slightly. The numbers represent the memory used by the
program files of PTWin32. They do not include memory that may be used to display
your PTWin32 data The suffix MB refers
to megabytes. Each megabyte is 1 million bytes. The suffix KB refers to
kilobytes. Each kilobyte is 1 thousand bytes. The PTWin32
desktop uses 8.3 MB of memory. The Permit
window uses 3.9 MB, and the Code
Enforcement window uses 1.6 MB. The Inspection
window uses 1.3 MB, and the Inspections
Scheduling window uses only 392 KB. The Parcel
window requires 1.2 MB of memory, while the Contractor
window needs 912 KB. The License
window uses 876 KB, and the Fees/Receipts
window takes 1.2 MB. The Time
Tracking window reserves 432 KB of memory and the Lists
window demands the least memory, needing only 188 KB to run. The SRW
Ad-Hoc Reporter needs 468 KB, and the Report
Builder Pro report writer takes 2 MB of memory. The PTWin32 Help
file requires 2.9 MB.
