PTWin Downloads PTWin32 Downloads / Understanding File Formats Understanding File Formats

The PTWin32 Downloads section of this web site contains a variety of files that can be used to learn more about PTWin32 and Black Bear Systems, Inc. These files come in different formats as follows:

Adobe Acrobat PDF format Adobe Acrobat PDF format
Portable Document Format (PDF) files are created using Adobe Acrobat document exchange software. Acrobat allows documents created on one platform to be displayed and printed on another.

To view PDF files you need a free utility program called the Acrobat Reader. If you do not already have the Acrobat Reader installed on your computer you can download the latest version from Adobe for free at:
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html

PKZip compressed file format PKZip compressed file format
PKZip takes one or more files and compresses them into a single file that occupies as little space as possible. This smaller file is more easily and quickly transported but once it's at its destination the compressed file must be decompressed in order for you to work with the contained files.

The PKZip files available on the PTWin32 Web Site have been converted into self-extracting executable program files. This means you do not need a copy of PKZip software in order to decompress contained files. Simply execute the downloaded file (using Windows Run command) and the contained files will be automatically unpacked.

Lotus ScreenCam file format Lotus ScreenCam movie format
The Lotus ScreenCam movie files on this web site show full-screen, narrated, movies of PTWin32 in action. Running a PTWin32 movie displays a 640 X 480 playback area as well as a Lotus ScreenCam Player panel. This panel shows your relative position in the movie and gives you controls for volume, pause/play, rewind, jump to segment, fast forward, and stop. Many PTWin32 movies are broken into segments that allow you to jump to specified scenes in the movie. Press the Jump To Segment button of the Lotus ScreenCam Player to see a list of the scenes in a movie.

Lotus ScreenCam movie files can be quite large and may require a great deal of download time depending on the speed of your connection to the Internet. To minimize download time we have compressed the ScreenCam movies into self-extracting PKZip files (see above). Execute the downloaded file (using Windows Run command) and the contained ScreenCam file(s) will be automatically unpacked. Once a ScreenCam file has been unzipped you simply execute it to view the movie.
