One of the benefits of computers is
that you do not need to know how a computer works in order to use one. If you had to keep
track of only a fraction of the relationships and activities required to execute your
commands you would be unable to carry out any real work.
Computers need to juggle the needs and wants of all your various pieces of hardware and
software together into a dynamic machine that responds to commands. The sheer volume of
housekeeping required to simply maintain an active Windows platform can be staggering. A
lot of different and sometimes competing manufacturers are providing products that need to
co-exist and communicate in order for you to use your computer. So it should come as no
surprise that such complex possibilities create complex problems.
When you first turn your computer on it establishes communication with your system and
provides you with a fresh and tidy workspace. As you open and close programs your system
slowly accumulates a kind of disorder in its workspace. This disorder can cause your
computer to become unstable and display unusual behavior.
The easiest way to remove the disorder is to re-boot your computer, which refreshes your
workspace.
If your computer is behaving strangely try re-booting it to see if the behavior stops.
Some people on certain types of networks or those experiencing Windows Registry errors
should check with their System Administrators before re-booting, but you would be
surprised to learn how many of our requests for technical support end up needing a simple
re-boot. Try it next time.
