Introducing PTWin32 |
There
are over forty things you can do to personalize the way your installation
behaves on the PTWin32 System Settings
window. You
can get to the System Settings
window from the Options Menu of
PTWin32 but you will need to be logged on as a user with System
Administration privileges. The
System Settings windows contains a
tabbed notebook with four pages as follows: System
Settings
– The upper half of this page contains a series of check boxes that
control various functions in PTWin32. The first governs the rounding of fee
calculations; the next one activates User-action
Logging, which creates a log file tracking critical PTWin32 activities
by User number. The
third check box restricts the ability to delete records to System
Administrators. The fourth activates automatic permit status changes based
on the status of the permit’s Approval
records. The last check box allows you to have the User’s name recorded
when creating new fees and receipts. Finally,
use the combo box to select which date the Building
Tally report will use. The
lower half of the page contains a series of fields that can be used to
automatically calculate and update the expiration dates for a permit or an
application. The
bottommost field on the page is for your Jurisdiction’s logo or seal. Record
Blocks
- This page of the System Settings
window contains a variety of alternatives for automated crosschecks of your
PTWin32 data. The
top section of the page determines a series of optional tests that can be
performed whenever a Contractor is assigned to a permit. PTWin32 can check a
Contractor’s state and local license expiration dates, as well as the
expiration date of Workers’ Compensation and other insurances. The
middle panel of the Record Blocks
page provides tests that can prevent the scheduling of an inspection based
on any of up to three Status field
values that you define. You
can also block the scheduling of an inspection for a permit that has Approval records that have not been approved. And you can
additionally block the scheduling of an inspection if the permit has any
unpaid fees. The
lower portion of the Record Block
page involves tests to prevent the creation of an inspection record (as
opposed to scheduling an
inspection). Printing
Blocks
– The Printing Blocks page of
the Systems Settings window allows
you to control when the permit or certificates of occupancy are printed. The
top panel controls the printing of the permit and allows you to block
printing based upon any of up to three Status
field values you specify, unapproved Approval
records, or unpaid permit fees. The
center panel of the Printing Blocks
tab controls the printing of a temporary certificate of occupancy and
contains the usual three Status
field value tests along with the unapproved Approval
and unpaid permit fees tests. The
bottom panel controls the printing of a permanent certificate of occupancy
and has the usual Status, Approval, and unpaid fees tests. Additionally
there is a checkbox on this panel that will prevent the printing of a
permanent certificate of occupancy in the absence of a passed Final Inspection record for the permit. This
article sums up what can be personalized on the System
Settings window of the Options
Menu. Actually, there are a number of other alternatives available to
you to customize your PTWin32 installation.
