Introducing PTWin32 |
PTWin32 contains a new
feature that allows users to send record-specific messages to other
network users of PTWin32. This means one user can convey a particular record
requiring action to other users by sending a message that points to the
referenced record. On
the receiving end, the user(s) can read the contents of the message and jump
to the referenced record at the push of a button. The message text can be as
long as needed. Plus, you can have PTWin32 or other users send timed
reminder messages to you! The
timer can be set to send on a one-time, daily, weekly, monthly, or annual
basis. You can save the messages you receive or delete them from your In-Box.
These User Messaging functions allow for a smoother permitting
process by assisting in the teamwork that many jurisdictions employ. You’ll
find User Messaging on the File menu of PTWin32’s Main
Menu. Selecting this command displays the User Messaging window.
This window looks like other PTWin32 windows with a toolbar of buttons and
tabbed notebook that shows you your In-Box, your Sent Messages,
and your Scheduled Messages. NOTE:
If you are a System Administrator you will see a fourth tab called System
Archiving. The
toolbar has the usual New, Delete, Print, Help,
and Close buttons as well as buttons for reading messages, sending
& receiving, jumping to a referenced record, and setting timer options
to check for new mail. User
Messaging
also keeps a separate archive of all messages sent through the system. Your
system administrator will, from time to time clean up the archive by
deleting unimportant messages that have accumulated over time. When
you create a message the New Message dialog appears. This dialog has
a check box labeled Archive Copy? If you check this field a copy of
your message is saved in the archive in a way that tells your system
administrator to save this as part of the historical record. If you don’t
check the box your message will most likely be deleted from PTWin32 the next
time your system administrator performs maintenance. The
New Message dialog also contains a combo box field called Referenced
Record, which allows you to select a record from PTWin32 to attach to
the message. Recipients press the Goto Referenced Record button to
open that module of PTWin32 and display the specified record.
