How to reset Auto-Numbering

Changing the next number used

Tip #: 3.2.50
Ver(s):PTWin32, V2

Those of you using PTWin32’s Auto-Numbering function are aware that the system assigns a sequential number to your various prefix and suffix values, but did you know you can reset the sequence to a new starting point?

Let’s say you are trying to align your automated numbers with those of another department or you have pre-numbered paper forms that you want to match. But your Auto-Numbering is currently set at 452 and your paper forms begin at 1000.

To tell PTWin32 to assign the next number as 1000 and count up from there all you need to do is log in as a user with system administration rights and select Auto Numbering from the Options menu to display the Automatic Record Numbering dialog box.

If you use Standard numbering press Change Standard. If you use Custom numbering press Change Custom. Both of the buttons display dialogs listing permit types and/or modules along with a field for Last Number Assigned. If you want the next number assigned to be 1000 then enter 999 in this field and press OK.
