Skipped Files
When is a backup not a backup?

Open files are skipped during backups

Tip #: 3.3.65
Ver(s):PTWin32, V2, V1

When you make a backup of your data the program making the backup must have exclusive access to all of the files you want backed up. Files that cannot be accessed are skipped

If your backup process is set to run unattended chances are the program automatically skips open files and records their names in a log.

If you are on a network and another user has gone home with the Permit window open you may find your backup is missing all of your most important PTWin32 files.

Even the backup program included with PTWin32 will stop and ask you about open files. No backup program can copy an open file.

To avoid these problems make sure every PTWin32 user logs off of the system when they are not using it. It’s better for system performance and security as well as backup. If you have an automated backup make sure you check it for skipped files regularly.
