The requirements for making a report

Tip #: 3.4.71
Ver(s):PTWin32, V2, V1

PTWin32 is a complex relational database system with over 70 interconnected data tables that contain more than 1,000 fields. Information in these tables is organized to best suit the needs of the computer.

When you use PTWin32 the data in the tables is extracted, prepared, and presented to you in a way that best suits the needs of you, the user. You could say we “hide” the stuff that users don’t need to know about. Just like you don’t need to be an automobile engineer in order to drive a car. But when you decide to create your own reports you do lift the hood and go from driver to home mechanic.

To make reports you need a rudimentary knowledge of PTWin32’s data structures. This information is not hard to master but it takes effort beyond that required for simple PTWin32 use. Making the software open for use with 3rd-party products limits what we can  “hide” since we don’t control those products.

There are lots of things you can do on your own if you understand a little about how PTWin32 works and we encourage this in our users. If you need help we are there with free technical support. We just want you to appreciate the extra effort that will be required to author your own report formats.

Our users who commit to making their own, more complicated reports usually succeed, but some of our users don’t have time, or would rather not expend the effort necessary to make some or all of their specialized reports. If this is your situation give us a call and we can tell you what it will take to have those reports made for you.

Only you can determine the best use of your time and resources, either way Black Bear is here to support you.
