Introducing PTWin32 |
If your computer is
part of a network of computers that use PTWin32 then you probably use your
computer to process information stored on a different computer from the one you
use. Your computer and the
other computers are linked across the network. In some cases you need those
other computers to be working properly before your computer will do what you
need. It’s possible that
a shortcut on your Windows desktop points to a program on a different computer.
If that other computer or your connection to it through the network is not
working properly then you will not be able to double click on that shortcut to
run the program. As far as you can tell there’s nothing wrong with your
computer, and you’re right. Sometimes shortcuts
that point to other computers change their icon or disappear all together if
that other computer is switched off or unstable. If you are on a
network and your PTWin32 shortcuts change or stop working first reboot your
computer and see if they come back. If not check the other computers in the
network (including a file server if you have one) for problems. If you find
problems and you have the authority, reboot the other computers in the network
to re-establish all connections from scratch. Always consult any Systems
Administrator you might have before rebooting a file server.
