Updating Permit expirations
Automatic recalculation of Permit expiration dates

Tip #: 5.3.135
Ver(s):PTWin32, V2

There are many methods used by local governments to carry out the permitting process. Sometimes a permit is approved and given an expiration date which never changes. All inspections including the Final Inspection must be completed by the date assigned.

Other jurisdictions have a system that places the expiration date of the permit on a sliding scale that is determined by the date of the most recent inspection. Usually the date of the moist recent inspection is pushed forward a specific number of days to determine the new permit expiration date. PTWin32 supports both of these methods for determining a permit expiration date and we do it automatically. Here’s how it works

If you execute the System Settings command from the Options menu of PTWin32 you will find a tab labeled System Settings. The lower half of this notebook page displays the fields for Automatic Expiration Date Updating.

The field labeled, When should PTWin32 set Expiration Date? Is a pulldown with 3 choices. If you select Never the expiration date will not be filled automatically and you will have to enter it by hand. If you select At Application Create Only then the date is calculated only once.

If you select At Application Creation and at each Inspection the calculation will be carried out every time an inspection is created for this permit. Below the pulldown is a numeric field that allows you to set the number of days to be added to the old expiration date in order to determine the new expiration date.
